A co-worker recommended a chocolate covered giant fortune cookie, and I don%26#039;t know if that%26#039;s what I%26#039;m looking for but maybe something else along those lines thats different from just plain flowers or teddy bears getting delivered. Something fun!

I was reading an article on tipping and it said to tip a floral delivery person a few dollars. I%26#039;ve never done that. I might not have any cash on hand. Since it%26#039;s an unexpected delivery and I wasn%26#039;t the one who ordered them, why would I be expected to tip?

I also work for a pizza chain, and you DO tip them.
But flowers? Generally NO.
Usually when flowers are delivered, they are delivered as a GIFT to the recipient from someone else. RARELY are flowers DELIVERED to the person who ORDERED them. As such, any %26quot;tip%26quot; is the onus of the PURCHASER, not the RECIPIENT. How would YOU like to get a gift and then have the person who GAVE you the gift expect a TIP for giving it to you? Same reasoning.
With Pizza delivery people, the people who are receiving the pizzas are generally the ones who ORDERED them, and thus, the tip is on the ORERERS.
Let%26#039;s switch things around a bit.... A dear friend of yours calls the local Pizza place and says, %26quot;My friend, Mary is really SICK today, and I%26#039;d like to have a PIZZA delivered to her so she doesn%26#039;t have to COOK tonight.%26quot; So, she orders the pizza, gives the delivery instructions, and gives her credit card info to pay for it. Now... do you REALLY think that YOU (being %26quot;Mary%26quot;) should tip the pizza delivery person when YOU didn%26#039;t ORDER the pizza? It should be your dear friend who, on the phone giving the delivery/payment information that says, %26quot;Oh, and please add a $2 tip for the driver when you charge my card!%26quot;... RIGHT???
So... generally speaking, flower delivery people are not tipped for this reason.

I also work for a pizza chain, and you DO tip them.
But flowers? Generally NO.
Usually when flowers are delivered, they are delivered as a GIFT to the recipient from someone else. RARELY are flowers DELIVERED to the person who ORDERED them. As such, any %26quot;tip%26quot; is the onus of the PURCHASER, not the RECIPIENT. How would YOU like to get a gift and then have the person who GAVE you the gift expect a TIP for giving it to you? Same reasoning.
With Pizza delivery people, the people who are receiving the pizzas are generally the ones who ORDERED them, and thus, the tip is on the ORERERS.

I work as a Professional Floral Designer. I have a degree in Horticulture and 10+ years work experience. My work experience includes but is not limited to:(this is what I do every day) Designing/arranging fresh cut and silk flowers per customer order; answering phones; waiting on customers; plant care (watering etc); processing fresh cuts when they first come in, cleaning and basic shop up-keep; occasional delivery, some basic computer work; ordering some product from wholesalers (not too often though..) and managing the shop when the boss isn%26#039;t here...which seems like most of the time......I am her only employee and get $8.10/ hour...am I getting screwed or what? If she gives me a raise, she cuts back the number of hours I work.

My husband of 14 years has to be reminded when Heart Day is - a buddy at this work told him Valentine%26#039;s Day was the 15th and my sweetie marked it down and then his buddies all laughed because he doesn%26#039;t remember dates. I gently remind him, and he always does something special for me. Better something special than nothing at all! The guy cared enough for you to make up for it - I think you need to show him you are grateful for his efforts!

Reply:he did not forget it was valentines - its in the papers, it has been in card shops for weeks, on the telly, everyone at work mentions it at some point - he is just one of those men who is not bothered about it and did not think it important. I am presuming you bought him a card and a present - if not you cannot complain!
It depends what he is like usually and how much you like him whether you forgive and forget but I would not be impressed - expecially as there was no need to be sarcastic.
You decide either continue to with the relationship and hope he remembers your birthday - he wont forget V day again i am sure - or you decide you are worth more then him
